Server Array: LILLY.CSOFT.NET

Lilly.csoft.net is a redundant, load-balanced array of dual-CPU 64-bit servers running the excellent FreeBSD/amd64 operating system. They all use AMD Opteron 246 processors, TYAN motherboards and 3GB of low-latency PC3200 memory. They also feature gigabit ethernet and Hi/fn 7955 security accelerators.

Data is synchronized between the nodes over a dedicated connection using rsync several times a day. Fault-tolerance is implemented using the CARP (Common Address Redundancy Protocol) for both the server nodes and the firewall systems.

History

Old-time users (1997-2001) were originally hosted at our first installation in Oklahoma City, OK on a server named CS.CSOFT.NET running Linux. They were transferred to our network in Atlanta on June 1st, 2001. On February 2006, accounts were transferred from a single server to a redundant array at our new data center.
